The Sudanese government vowed to implement the UN Security Council resolution on Darfur, although it said the resolution was unfair. Resolution 1564 warns that the Security Council "will envisage" sanctions against Sudan's oil industry unless Khartoum makes good on its promise to protect the population of Darfur. The resolution was sponsored by the United States, which says Khartoum and its proxy Arab militias are guilty of genocide in Darfur. أعلنت الجيش السوداني، في بيان الأربعاء، تحطم طائرة عسكرية الثلاثاء بسبب سوء الأحوال الجوية، مما أسفر عن مقتل طاقمها المؤلف من 4 أفراد.

وأفاد البيان بـ”تحطم طائرة عمودية من طراز ( ميغ 17) تابعة للقوات المسلحة مساء أمس الثلاثاء.. بعد إقلاعها من مدينة دنقلا في مهمة رسمية إلى مدينة الدبة”.

وأضاف أن الحادث وقع “بسبب سوء الأحوال الجوية، مما أدى إلى استشهاد جميع أفراد طاقم الطائرة المكون من أربعة أفراد”.

وقالت وكالة الأنباء السودانية إن والي منطقة الشمالية، علي عوض محمد موسى، ومسؤولين محليين وقادة الأجهزة العسكرية والشرطية والامنية قاموا بزيارة موقع سقوط الطائرة.
